I find myself writing a lot lately . Firstly because I like sharing what I love with you guys. Whether that is a new product, a service or experience I enjoyed, or simply because I want to share different thoughts, but also because I really feel like I can connect with you way better than just through an Instagram feed and caption. If the last time I spoke about all things skincare, article which you can find here. Today I will go a bit more in depth with both beauty and care.
I don’t care what is happening to my hair, said no person ever, right? Well I surely hope so. Today I will be sharing a lovely experience I had a little while ago at Duck and Dry Mayfair.
They so kindly offered me to go in and have my eyebrows thread & tinted ( never had then tinted before, and I am also such a scared-cat when it comes to threading them on my own because I don’t want to take too much and ruin their shape), have my nails done and also get a nice blow dry.
Before I get into the real talk, I need to mention the fact that I had my hair and brows done by them before in their Fitzrovia salon, and they surely didn’t disappoint. So here I was going in, the second I stepped in I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful the whole decor was . It was a few days before Halloween and my, oh, my how cute their window display was . As soon as I walked in the atmosphere felt so friendly and warm. Did I mention they even have a bar ? Prosecco for breakfast ? Yes please!
I was booked in for eyebrows first and remember I was mentioning above the fact that I am quite a scared cat when it comes to this? Well that’s also because I have zero tolerance to pain ( yes! Eyebrow threading pain is a real thing ) . The lady who has done them had such a soft hand and everything went so quick and smooth I didn’t even realise they were done. Bless her we actually chatted through it all. Gotta love a good chat in the morning and the fact that she was so well informed about both the beauty and the fashion industry just made me feel like home. How about the tinting bit you may ask? Well she kept the natural shape of my eyebrows and just added a little bit of colour, I personally hate overdone eyebrows.
All this process took about 20 minutes and I was so so happy with the outcome. The next bit were the nails, I chose a beautiful nude shade in order to match any outfit I was wearing and went for a classic mani instead of a shellac one. I usually do my nails at home, but who doesn’t love a good old salon mani sometimes?
I decided to wait a little bit to write this article simply because I wanted to see just how long the nails would last, and guess what? TWO WEEKS!! They lasted so long and I have done dishes, cleaning, washing, you name it? This surely get a 10/10 from me and another booking as soon as possible.
Now for the blowdry, I had my hair washed and went for loose curls. My natural hair is slightly curly and frizzy so they applied some of their own anti-frizz serum and my hair looked so nice and smooth even before getting it styled. I remember it was such a rainy & windy day but the hair lasted from 12 pm all the way to 10pm when I was returning to get my train back home. I’ve been rained on, had the wind blowing through it and the humidity was high but …. #itlasted.
Overall I was quite surprised by the whole experience, it is so hard to find professional people these days. People who really love their job and people who do it out of pleasure instead of just money money money. I absolutely love it when a simple salon visit turns into a whole experience and this is exactly what has happened.
In the end, I would like to say a BIG thank you to the Duck & Dry Mayfair team for being so welcoming and patient with my hair which sometimes can be a little naughty one when it comes to styling. If you guys are looking for somewhere to go and feel spoiled then you need to try Duck and Dry. I am pretty sure you will find it just as nice as I did.
